Arsenal is sitting at the top of the Premier League table right now having won seven out of their eight games so far. They have been playing like a completely different team as compared to last season and Jamie Carragher believes there are two players, in particular, Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba, who have helped the Gunners to take their performance to the next level.

Mikel Arteta and his men beat Tottenham 3-1 in their last Premier League match to carry their good run of form forward. Jesus scored a goal in this match to take his season tally to five goals and three assists in just eight matches. Defender William Saliba put on a strong defensive show at the back as well.

Both came into Arteta and Director Edu’s plans only this season. They transferred Jesus in from Manchester City for a whopping sum of £45 million. As far as things with Saliba go, Arteta finally decided to use him at the heart of his defense along with Gabriel Magalhaes after an extended loan spell with Marseille in Ligue 1.

“A lot of people thought that this season, maybe Spurs would be in the position that Arsenal is in now,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

“I’ve seen Spurs got a bit of criticism, but in terms of how Conte plays – they played like a Conte team. If they’d have got the final pass right on three or four occasions, they should have gone in at half-time in front.

“But I take nothing away from Arsenal, I’ve been so impressed with them at the start of the season – the pace they play at, the football they play.

“And the two signings…well not signings but Saliba and Jesus have come in and taken this team to another level,” Carragher added.

But Arsenal still needs to keep their feet grounded to prevent their Champions League dreams from getting shattered like last time. One dry run of form can reduce their chances of qualifying for the UCL drastically and that’s why the Gunners need to keep themselves motivated and keep their good form going.
