Barcelona considering Raphinha sale
La Liga side Barcelona are seriously considering the sale of Brazilian winger Raphinha in the summer if his performances do not improve by the end of the season.
The 26-year-old snubbed Arsenal and Chelsea to move to Camp Nou in a £55m deal in the summer and stated that he dreams of recording silverware success at the club.
“All my idols played and made history here, so it’s a huge honour, and I can’t thank Barca enough for giving me the chance to wear this jersey. I hope I can achieve half of what my idols accomplished here. It’s a dream come true for me and my family. I’m going to do my best to help this club win (trophies).” The Brazilian said on the back of his move.
However, his dream move and stay in Barcelona could be short-lived and ended abruptly as reports indicate that Barcelona head coach Xavi and his assistant coaches are getting impatient with the performances of the 26-year-old.
Raphinha has played 13 La Liga games for Barcelona and only managed to score two goals and two assists, while he’s yet to score in the UEFA Champions League despite playing five games.
These numbers fall short of expectations of the Barcelona dressing room, and the club wouldn’t mind offloading the player whose showing at the World Cup in Qatar was below par as he failed to score in five games for the Samba boys.
Meanwhile, it doesn’t look like Barcelona will be short on suitors for the winger, as some Premier League clubs are already interested in swooping in for him.
Barcelona returns to La Liga action on December 31 with a game against Espanyol. They would hope to get a victory as they currently lead Real Madrid with two points on the La Liga table.
