Chelsea is keeping an eye on Tottenham forward Harry Kane and to lure him to Stamford Bridge, it is being said that they are ready to offer Romelu Lukaku to Spurs.
The Blues of London are keen on finding a consistent striker who can bag a lot of goals.
If it turns true, it could be one of the biggest deals ever to be done in football history.
Lukaku became the second-most expensive signing in English football history last season when Chelsea went all-out to bring the Belgian footballer back. They gave 96 million pounds to Inter Milan to bring him to London, but the striker failed to adjust after two fantastic seasons in Italy.
The Belgian has been loaned to Inter Milan for this season and Chelsea also sold Timo Werner back to RB Leipzig, which left them with no options in the market. They had to settle for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the short term, but according to Calcio Mercato, they are pushing for the signature of Harry Kane.
Although Spurs are not keen on letting Kane quit, they have struggled to tie him down with a new contract and they do not have much time left to do so. Kane, who is the third highest goal-scorer in Premier League history, is frustrated by the lack of silverware at his boyhood club and multiple clubs would be ready to sign him.
This swap deal, if it transpires, could be a win-win for both clubs as Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was instrumental in making Romelu Lukaku work wonders. There are enough evidences to suggest that the big Belgian striker will regain his golden touch under him and he would be open to move to the other side of London if needed.
Manchester City were prepared to break English records to sign Harry Kane, but the deal never went through as Tottenham managed to dissolve some pretty solid bids. However, that may not be possible next summer, as he will have only one year left in his contract (which expires in 2024). They eventually signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Some other clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona have been in the hunt for him previously and could reignite their hopes next summer, with the negotiations likely to be less tougher due to his contract situation.
