Manchester United’s Fred, Casemiro and Antony named in Brazil’s Squad for FIFA World Cup 2022 warm-up matches
The FIFA World Cup is almost there and so is the final international break for the mega event. All the managers are busy putting final touches to their squads and the rosters released will reveal a lot about their plans going into the tournament.
With the World Cup set to take place between November and December this year, club football will see a halt of around six weeks during the said period.
While some clubs won’t be affected at all, with fewer players leaving for national duties and hence less fatigue on their bodies when they come back, Manchester United won’t enjoy such luxury as they will have to let go a number of their key players during that period.
According to Sky Sports, Brazil’s head coach Tite has already announced their squad for the warm-up fixtures and he has included Casemiro, Fred and Antony in it, all of whom play for Manchester United. Alex Telles, who is currently at loan in Sevilla, is also in the Brazil squad.
Brazil will face Ghana and Tunisia in the warm-up matches this month. Fred and Casemiro, who formed the heart of the midfield during their run to the Copa America final, are expected to play a key role in this competition as well. Antony, however, will need to impress a lot as he faces fierce competition for his position from Raphinha.
As far as things for Manchester United go, they will look to get all the players back in shape and full fitness from this month’s international break. Fixture congestion is going to become an issue again as the seventh round of the Premier League was postponed due to the death of The Queen.
So Erik ten Haag has quite a job at his hands. He will need to be very smart while using his resources. Even the smallest of mistakes with the players’ workloads can have serious repercussions on the fate of the club in this season.
