Tammy Abraham looks all set for Premier League return
Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who has been playing for Serie A side AS Roma since 2021, is set to make a return to the Premier League, as per latest reports in Italy.
Manchester United and his former team Chelsea look like the most probable destinations for Abraham this time. While the Red Devils are keen to bring a food striker into their roster, the Blues have a £70.8 million buy-back clause for the Roma forward.
Since joining Jose Mourinho’s side from Stamford Bridge, Abraham has scored 34 goals and made 11 assists across 91 games in all competitions for Roma. The 25-year-old also helped Roma to win the Europa Conference League.
Among his two potential destinations at the end of the season, Abraham has a long association with the Blues. He came through the club’s youth ranks and has also scored 30 goals across 82 games for the senior Chelsea side.
Graham Potter is also looking for a new striker, but he may opt to give Romelu Lukaku a chance, who is returning from Inter Milan ahead of the upcoming season.
As far as things with Manchester United go, Abraham isn’t exactly at the top of their priority list either. Erik ten Hag and co have been linked with a huge move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane as well. But the chances of that happening aren’t great.
Chelsea and Manchester United have had contrasting fortunes this season, though. The Blues have largely struggled, placed in 10th place in the Premier League table. The Red Devils, however, are sitting in third place and they have also won the Carabao Cup. If you are interested in Football news and betting visit Nextbet.
Whatever happens, Abraham is going to join either of these clubs. Reports in Italy also state that Mourinho has already started looking for replacements at Roma, who are currently sitting in fifth position in the Serie A. They are just three points behind the third place and hence, have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
