West Bromwich Albion eyeing a double loan move from the Premier League before the end of the transfer window
West Bromwich Albion is expected to make late moves in the January transfer window. The club is currently in talks with Premier League midfielders Lewis O’Brien and Nathaniel Chalobah of Nottingham Forest and Fulham respectively.
Both the players might end up joining the side and Martin Kelly could leave the team before the winter transfer window comes to a close.
The Baggies have been heavily linked with two midfielders from the Premier League. The links with O’Brien were first brought up by The Athletic on January 28 while the Daily Mail also shed light on the side being interested in Chalobah on the same day.
It is believed that manager Carlos Corberan is looking to add further reinforcements to his squad during the winter transfer window as West Brom continue to aim for a swift promotion back to the Premier League by the end of the season.
West Brom’s pursuit could be aided by the fact that both the players have been peripheral figures for their respective clubs in the English top flight.
Between them, the midfield duo has made just seven Premier League starts and they may as well choose to join West Brom in the Championship in order to see more game time. Helping the Baggies in their quest for top-flight promotion could also be a key factor in their minds.
Both O’Brien and Chalobah represent terrific deals for Corberan as both players hold valuable experience in the Championship, and both of them possess knowledge of how the promotion run-in will be.
Corberan has previously worked with O’Brien at Huddersfield Town last summer before the latter made his move to Nottingham Forest. Chalobah also has plenty of experience and has helped relegation sides earn promotion twice before, with both Watford and Fulham over the last three campaigns.
The former Chelsea midfielder also holds European experience and had been loaned to Serie A outfit Napoli in the 2015/16 season.
Meanwhile, defender Matthew Kelly could be on his way out. The Daily Mail have also reported that the former Crystal Palace player is a target for Sky Bet Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic and could be on the move from The Hawthorns this month.
